Azril Reza, Physiotherapist
Physiotherapist Azril Reza who hails from Kuala Lumpur, is the eldest child from a family of two. He was born on January 8, 1981 and was raised in Langat, Selangor. He received his early education at SK Sg Serai and represented his school at the junior level. He moved on to SM Abdul Jalil for his secondary education and represented both his school and district for five consecutive years there. Reza as he is more commonly known as believed it was a conspiracy against him that he was not selected to play for Selangor at the junior level. He usually played left wing, despite being right footed.
After completing his SPM, he furthered his education in accountancy at Kolej Teknologi Timur, but he got kicked out a few months later. He joined Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran Mara seven months later, but a similar outcome followed his time at KTT. While striving for a balance between his first love of football and paper qualification that his parents demanded, Reza finally enrolled in the Sports Science course at University Putra Malaysia, graduating with an excellent 3.4 CGPA. In between, Reza played for KL Hawks in the KL League until he got to play for KL in the Milo Cup.
Following graduation, Reza knocked on many doors looking for an opportunity to work, but many teams and sports organisations were keener on experienced physios. With his neighbours help, Reza managed to obtain a place as assistant physio in Selangor MPPJ’s squad in 2002. He remained with the Klang Valley outfit until their controversial demise from the Super League in 2006, being part of the victorious 2003 Malaysia Cup winning squad and the 2004 triumphs in the Charity Shield and Premier League. MPPJ’s pullout left him out in the lurch once more as he was in the beginning of his career. While selling Roti John in Cheras during the fasting month, former MPPJ coach Khan Hung Meng approached Reza and offered him the role of physio in MyTeam in October 2006.
In MyTeam, Reza is responsible for the rehabilitation, treatment and supplements utilising his scientific background while emphasizing on the players psychological acpect. He also holds a CPR certificate from Malaysian Red Crescent Society (PBSM) and the Train of Trainer cert from Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Reza is still single and currently lives with his family in Langat.
