Muhammad Yakub Hussaini, Vice President & Assistant Manager
Yakub Husaini, the MyTeam FC assistant manager was born in Kuching on April 14, 1973 to one of the most prominent families in Sarawak. Yakub received his early education at St.Joseph and Lodge Prepatory in Kuching. He left his family at 11, to further his secondary education in United World College of South East Asia in Singapore, and upon completing furthered his studies to the United Kingdom. In 1991, he got a place in Oxford Air Training School for his basic pilot qualification, and furthered to Advance level in Cabair College of Air Training in Cranfield University, UK. He is qualified pilot and practiced for a few years in the UK.

Yakub was always crazy about football since he was young and represented both his primary schools, his secondary school and also both his air-schools. While in the UK, Yakub also earned his coaching badges equivalent to a UEFA ‘B’ License, and coached Baltic FC, a semi-pro outfit in the local English league. Returning to Malaysia, Yakub together with the closest of his friends Khairy Jamaluddin and Jason Lo formed Punani FC, a Sunday league team, just to continue having fun of the football field, while being was involved in a number of political portfolios.

In end 2005, Khairy and Jason decided to form MyTeam the reality TV programme show, and Yakub was roped in to assist, eventually being in-charge of the overall operations, with their blessings. Following the tremendous success of the programme, Khairy announced that MyTeam was to go pro, to be known as MyTeam FC, and the Liverpool die-hard was asked to come on board. He gave up his career in the skies for life on the pitch. Reflecting on his decision to switch careers Yakub said “Basically both careers are the same, as the recipe for success in preparation. In order to be successful we have to prepare well”.

Yakub’s role in MyTeam is to support manager Jason Lo in every matter that Jason deems fit, and also to co-ordinate all matters in relation with coaches and players. Yakub relishes the challenge at MyTeam saying that “At MyTeam, no one is shy to pack in the punches as everyone is willing to give a hand in completing any task set-out”.

Yakub is the eldest of two, still single and currently resides in Bandar Utama.
