At long last, after all the sleepless nights, after all the should have been’s, after all soul searching and sighs looking at the league table, it finally happened. MyTeam, harvested their first win of the season. The sections of the orchestra which previously had only sounded strained and unharmonious at times, finally came together in a melodious concerto that resounded across the nation as the Northern Lions were put to the sword.

Coach Bojan Hodak made only one change from the lineup that slumped against the Canaries, benching Haris Safwan and giving Zamri Chin his first start of the season. The rest of the eleven remained the same, with Syed Adney in goal, Juzaili Samion at right back; Mijo Dadic and skipper Khaironnisam Sahabuddin in central defence. In midfield Norshahrul Idlan Talaha was given the task of playmaker with Azammudin Akil and Nazrin Nawi on the flanks, while Jeremy Danker took on the mantle as the enforcer. The strikers were Andres Sebastian Romano and Zamri in a 4-4-2 formation.

The first thrust between the gladiators began after 2 minutes with Azamuddin getting the ball on the right and squaring it to Zamri whose first touch releases Andres to sprint free of his marker Fauzie Nan. He cuts in on the right side but disappointingly shoots high and wide. The Northern Lions bared their claws after that. A couple of minutes later, captain Yusri Che Lah with a sweet defence splitting short pass to release Rudie Ramli who would have been through but for a great interception by Mijo. MyTeam looked to route one for their next attack. In the 5th minute, Kaironnisam with a long punt targeted for Andres to run onto only to be gathered by the onrushing Perlis keeper Yusoff Ishak. Perlis were the earlier team to settle down and flex their muscles. A minute later, Chipeta getting the ball outside the box and squaring it for Yusri, but he was caught offside in receiving the return pass. Perlis were now toying around with their opponents like a cat would do with a ball of string, In the 7th minute, Julio Cesar's sweet throughpass find Rudie but he shoots against Kaironnisam's legs, the captain doing well to charge him down.

Perlis by now really having their foot on the accelerator, and in the 10th minute, Julio's surging run on the left flank whipped onto Rudie's head but Adney equal to the task, gathering the cross with ease. Another left flank attack a minute later sees Mijo lose out to Phillimon and he's forced to concede a corner to the Zambian. The resulting corner sees Kaironisam forced to head the ball behind for another corner, this time to the right. MyTeam by now playing on the counterattack. On 14 minutes, a long pass from Kaironnisam freeing Azzamudin on the right hand side but he was sadly penalised for handball. A minute on, Jeremy cuts through the Perlis midfield and sprays the ball to Nazrin who delivers a low knee height centre for Andres who slides in but the ball was saved off the line by Es Lizuan. Yusri was in his element in the first half, a dipping cross from the right this time testing Adney after 17 minutes, who picks up the ball on the top of Phillimon's head. A minute later, Redzuan Othman, for Perlis, receiving the ball just outside the box, but despite the attention of four defenders, manages to squeeze in a shot thankfully skywards. The northern storm is really at it's peak now. In the 19th minute, Julio setting up the ball for Rudie to shoot against Mijo. The ball ends up at Phillimon's feet, his stiff grounder going just wide with Adney rooted to the ground.

Azzamudin's ceaseless toiling on the flanks finally bore fruit, charging down an attempted clearance by Lizuan to release Zamri clear on goal but the striker shoots despairingly wide, in the 21st minute. The chance however, proved to be an elixir for MyTeam and Jeremy connects with Kaironnisam's freekick to put the ball in but he was penalised, questioningly, for pushing. Jeremy on hand again for MyTeam's next attack in the 24th minute, his throughpass chested by Zamri, whose shot hits both post before going in. The goal however was declared offside. Just when it seems that the balance of power was about to turn, the Northern Lions drew first blood in the 27th minute. Rudie's short throughpass to Phillimon was given back in a sweet one-two and Rudie stabs the ball low into the net for 1-0 to Perlis.

Stung by the wound of a conceded goal, Norshahrul embarks on a niggling run past three defenders three minutes later, only to be chopped down outside the box. Nazrin curls it high and wide to the left. Irwan breaks through on the left to feed Zamri but with the goal in sight, he unselfishly squares it to Azzamudin. Yusoff however, nimbly cuts out the cross in the 33rd minute. Perlis now content to absorb the pressure, and from Yusri's swirling cross from the deep, Phillimon ghosts clear of Irwan to plant his header past Adney for Perlis’ second in the 35th. Julio from the restart, almost added another goal into the Northern Lion's account finding himself in the box, his low shot going wide.

It was almost one way traffic now in direction of MyTeam's goal as Perlis gaining a spring in their step with that second goal, Julio surging forward to square for Rudie who forces Adney into an almighty scramble with his low shot with 5 minutes to the break. Phillimon has been like the proverbial lice in Mijo's hair all day, the Croatian forced to hack him down for a direct freekick on Perlis's left a minute later. Yusri's low curler however gathered by Adney. Phillimon's box of tricks were open again two minutes later, his backheel to Rudie sidefooted into the path of Julio who shoots straight to the keeper. Juzaili then tried to engineer the fightback, his cross from the deep aimed for Zamri easily gathered by Yusoff, with a minute to the breather. Jeremy's hopeful shot was the closing act of the first half, a shot from the center circle done with more hope than guile.

The second half saw the introduction of Haris Safwan in place of Andres and it almost paid instant dividend, Azzamudin's two man slalom freeing Nazrin in the 47th minute, but he shoots into the side netting. Julio started the ball rolling again, helping on Yusri's throughball to Rudie who shoots against the post. He was flagged offside. Azzamudin's determination and industry forces the Perlis defence to converge upon him to force a corner. Corner from the right played out to Mijo, the floater driven in from out the box into the sea of bodies inside the box, Norshahrul slams in the rebound to notch in MyTeam's first goal in the 55th minute.

Lions can bleed after all, these are not some heaven sent deities with magical powers, they are mere flesh and blood. With the wind in their sails, Zamri receives the ball with his back to the goal and turns like a ballerina to shoot with his right leg past the keeper in the 61st minute. MyTeam are level, and the whole stadium erupts in an orgasmic bliss. Perlis however, are made of too much sterner stuff to lay down and die, and K.Soley delivers a cross from the right byline to Julio, who directs his header downwards to Yusri to shoot wastefully from outside the box, two minutes later. Phillimon leads the Lion's attack nodding on the ball to Soley to square to Rudie to blast high after deceiving a last ditch tackle from Irwan in the 64th minute. Zamri beginning to impose himself more and more in the game, his pass to the right releasing Haris but the substitute shoots wastefully wide in the 66th. At 2-2, Perlis make their first change withdrawing Abd Aziz Ismail for Azmizi Azmi. MyTeam though remained on top, Jeremy with another of his lung bursting run cutting through the Perlis left flank, only just failing to deliver a centre with Zamri in acres of space, a minute later. Arumugam Ramasamy is thrown into the fray in the 69th minute, for Azammudin

Defence is a forgotten code between these warriors now, the smell of both combatants spilt blood stank in the air with the next goal surely the deciding one in the game. With 20 minutes left Kaironnisam hacks down Julio about 25 metres from goal for a freekick. The Brazilian picks himself up to power a freekick straight into Adney's arms. In the 72nd minute, the test of wills finally was won by MyTeam. Nazrin's corner on the right floated in onto the head of Mijo, who torpedoes it into the net and send the whole MytTam bench bonkers. The Lion's so nearly responded with another goal. Norshahrul hacks down Julio outside the box for a freekick in the 74th minute. Lizuan's swerving kick saved superbly by Syed Adney and he was called into action again for a second time, palming away Rudie's shot from the rebound. MyTeam living on the counterattack diet by now and Haris manages to releases the quicksilver Zamri, who delivered a grounder just wide, three minutes later. Abdul Rahman then makes Perlis’ second change, replacing former Selangor Rudie Ramli with former MyTeam striker Nizaruddin Yusof, who received a great applause from the home fans, while immediately Bojan cancels a planned substitution to bring on Shakir Shaari, instead replacing Irwan Fadzli who limped out injured for Aslam Najumudeen .

Time for gritted teeth’s and muttered curses now as Perlis now cook up one last storm to batter down MyTeam with just 10 minutes on the clock. Substitute Aslam brings down Soley on right and Fauzie tests Syed Adney with a stinger. Perlis comes again with 6 minutes left, this time in the left channel through Yusri's throughball to Julio but his high cross cut out again by Adney. A minute into injury time, Phillimon headed on a Soley punt into the box but Kaironisam with a clever interception, snuffs out the danger.

With the dam at breaking point in the last minute of injury time, the unexpected happened. MyTeam scored another goal, and from the unlikeliest of sources. Goalkeeper Adney takes a seemingly harmless freekick from inside his own half and blasts in high and straight into box. Time seems to stop as the ball hung in the air and falls straight into the path of Zamri, who gleefully rounds the keeper to seal off a memorable win and start the party on the bench and in the stands.

MyTeam FC lost their Super League virginity in the most spectacular of fashions, a comic book comeback from the jaws of defeat against Perlis, nonetheless. A superb display of toil, sweat and composure. To the rest of the Super League, you have been warned!!
